The G&G CM16 Raider-L (short for Combat Machine 16) is based off the extremely popular Armaline AR-15 design, it is a high quality and affordable AEG that allows airsoft players to have the best of both worlds: value and performance. Due to its price point, the CM16 serves as a great AEG for airsoft players who are just starting out. The receiver, rail kit are both made out of light, yet durable nylon fiber polymer, and like real AR-15s the CM16 operates in both semi automatic and fully automatic firing modes. The CM16 comes out of the box with a G&G branded high cap magazine that holds a whopping 450 rounds of 6mm plastic airsoft BBs. The CM16 fires the aforementioned 6mm BBs at roughly 370 to 410 FPS depending on barrel length and weight of BBs used. G&G equips the CM16 Raider-L with the renowned, upgradable V2 gearbox design with adjustable hop up unit.

A snippet from wikipedia on the original Armalite AR15:

“An AR-15 style rifle is a lightweight semi-automatic rifle based on the ArmaLite AR-15 design, which is itself a scaled-down derivative of Eugene Stoner’s AR-10 design. The then Fairchild Engine and Airplane Corporation division ArmaLite sold the U.S. Patent 2,951,424 and trademarks to Colt’s Manufacturing Company in 1959, but after Colt’s gas operated bolt and carrier system patents expired in 1977, Colt retained the trademark and is the exclusive owner of the “AR-15″ designation.”
